I bought the complete kit that does rifles, pistols & shotguns. $60. I have to tell you that I am seriously disappointed in the product & not to waste your money. Nothing beats a good cleaning rod or bore snake after using this kit.
On my 243. No brush in the kit for a 243. The patches are a joke. I did their special method of putting a patch on the jag. It worked ok for a while & on my 10th patch the jag got stuck at the beginning of bore (end of the chamber). There is no way to back it out, the cable is not stiff enough. And no way to grab the patch while it's all the way up the chamber. I had to figure out which way to turn the cable to unthread the jag to get the cable out of the barrel. Then I had to get a cleaning rod & thread it on the jag to back it out of the barrel. It was barely even stuck.
Then I tried to use this thing on my 300 win mag. I have a bore guide for my 300. The guide is to keep solvents & oil from dripping in the chamber while cleaning. You can not use this cable w/ a bore guide. It is too short, like 3" too short from exiting the end of the barrel so you can pull it through. Might seem like no big deal about not being able to use a bore guide but if you care to not make your chamber egg shaped & keep it round - it's a big deal. Didn't even pull it through my 300.
Did not try it on my shotguns or XD40 - don't care anymore.
The kit contains your standard brushes but if you have anything other than a .22 or .30 cal - like a .243 - you're buying additional brushes. And the normal long brushes don't fit into the molded brush holder. My .243 brush is in the longest slot & extends beyond it by 3/8".
The orange plastic thingy is cool but I'm ready to throw it away.
The case is a big pain. It is made of a canvas-plastic stuff that is stiff as can be. It's almost too small for all the stuff crammed in there & very difficult to zip up.
It's messy.
I do like that it is very compact. But it's something you should keep in the glovebox or in your pack for emergency cleanings only. I would not rely on this kit to clean a mud or snow packed muzzle.
I could've bought 3 boxes of ammo or a dedicated cleaning rod & bore guide & brushes or a bore snake & etc. Anyways, that's what I think of the kit.
