Outdoor Life Crossbow Poll

NABC Organizational Reps,

You may have already heard from your regional chairman on this, but Outdoor Life magazine is currently conducting a poll asking "Should crossbows be legal during archery season". The response to this poll has been substantial with over 160,000 votes cast as of a few minutes ago. However, there is a reason for so many votes and that is because a person can vote as many times and as often as is desired. So no doubt folks are hitting the vote key many, many times. This seems to be a poor way to conduct a supposedly legitimate poll but that's the way it is set up and people are responding accordingly.

At one point last evening the NO on crossbows was leading substantially, then during the day the YES was out ahead. We assume that the crossbow company employees were likely voting during the day as part of their jobs. As of a few minutes ago it was 51 % YES and 48.8 % NO. At any rate, please get the word out on this poll immediately to members of your organizations and anyone else you desire so bowhunters can make a strong run to the finish on this with a huge registration of NO votes. This is a weekly poll but we don't know when it will terminate, but it could be soon so vote now, and vote often. You can be certain that the other side is doing exactly that.

The poll can be accessed at www.outdoorlife.com Just scroll down the page to it.

On an intricately related subject, attached is the article "The Crossbow Debate" which is in the current issue of Outdoor Life. The NABC gets its message out on crossbows in this article which is most certainly a positive development. A box in the lower right hand of the first page of the piece notes the poll on crossbows but it is not accessible at the website shown there, but it is found at the site shown above.

i have dial up, so its INCREDIBLY slow, but there were well over 1000 additional new votes, every time i voted. went from 51% for x-bows, to 54% against. this survey is almost as big of a joke as their magazine
