Permit to own deer?

Well, my Dad and I are looking in to maybe seeing if we can raise/own deer. But the problem is we don't know where to go or who to ask to get a permit to own deer. I live in Iowa like most of you guys and I'm just wondering. I have some other questions if anyone here raises/owns deer please PM me. Thanks

They would be livestock then and you'll find an answer somewhere in the dept of Ag.

If you do it please, even though it's not required, put up a double fence to avoid nose to nose contact with wild deer and the potential for disease passage.
