I never got a answer from my last thread, just curious if someone could tell me how my Dad can get a permit to own Deer in Iowa. Thanks for any help.

You used to have to get it thru the DNR, now they are under the USDA. You would have to contact them to find out the current requirements, 8 or 10 foot fence, amount of acres, etc.. They would have to be bought from a 5 year cwd acc. herd, and will require yearly testing, unless its a closed herd that can never leave your property. Your CO will probably have to inspect your pen first and should know what you will need to do before you can purchase your deer.They are not cheap, the skys the limit on the genetically superior deer, even does. Since CWD showed up they are very strict now, which they need to be. So far there has been none in Iowa, YET.
