National Pheasant Fest Draws 21,700 to Omaha

Omaha, Nebraska - Pheasants Forever's National Pheasant Fest concluded Sunday, drawing 21,743 attendees to the weekend event at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Nebraska. This marked the sixth consecutive time Pheasants Forever has drawn more than 20,000 at its signature event.

More than 150,000 have attended Pheasants Forever'sNational Pheasant Fest events since 2003. In addition to providing significant economic impact for the host city and attending outdoor industry vendors, Pheasants Forever uses the event to recruit members for its wildlife habitat conservation mission. More than 1,000 individuals signed up as Pheasants Forever members at the Omaha event, including more than 70 who contributed $1,000 to join the organization as a Life Member.

"Pheasant Fest was a tremendous success for us," reported Chris Sprangers, Cabela's Corporate Marketing Manager. Cabela's was the presenting sponsor of this year's show. "Not only did we enjoy talking with thousands of our customers, we were proud to support the conservation efforts of our partners at Pheasants Forever. We are already counting the days till Pheasant Fest 2012."

National Pheasant Fest, which highlights wildlife habitat conservation, upland hunting and sporting dogs, also served as the launch for a new Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) general signup. U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack made the announcement at the event Friday. The program, in its 25th year, has preserved habitat for wildlife, and prevented soil erosion by enrolling marginal cropland. The Secretary said the CRP general signup would occur from March 14 to April 15 targeting up to 4 million acres.

Pheasants Forever will indeed hold National Pheasant Fest 2012, and the city, venue and dates will be announced in the coming weeks. "Upland hunters and conservationists have made National Pheasant Fest into the biggest annual get-together of its kind, and Pheasants Forever is proud to host such a dedicated crowd year after year," said Brad Heidel Pheasants Forever's Director of Corporate & Special Event Sales.

Pheasants Forever is dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management policies and programs.
