I know a lot of people who do hunt them with a 22, I've always thought it was legal. BUT then again, some poeople I know have hunted them with a .17 rem and a .223

I'm pretty sure that's not legal. Maybe some officer of the law on here can clear this up for us. By the way, what all can you shoot in Iowa with a centerfire rifle???

I'm pretty certain it's illegal to kill pheasants with any solid projectile. Can't tell you for sure, though.

This came up on this forum some time ago. At the time I was certain it was illegal, but if my memory is correct, it turned out to be legal after all.

I belive that you can use anything, On a side note, i was talking to a guy, and he uses a hand gun durring shot gun, is that legal?

Yes you can use handguns during shotgun season.

If they meet the minimum requirements.
(barrel length / caliber)

I don't believe you can use them on turkey but that may be the exception. I just think it's funny you can use a rifle to shoot some thing as small as a squirrel but not a deer.
