Can anyone identify these plants for me? They have been growing in the same spot in my CRP for years and seem to be slowly spreading. I mowed them down this spring and burned and they are 4'-5' tall already. They end up about 6' tall and nothing seems to benefit from them, other than perhaps escape cover for rabbits and pheasants?

What they looked like this spring.

Indian Hemp / Dogbane. Perennial that's here and there in our fields as well. Related in the milkweed family.

Has a milky poisonous substance on the inside. Can see when you cut, mow it. Not much eats it for this reason.

Im battling some patches of dogbane as well. Milkweeds r almost always a plant that breaks through any herbicide program. I’m gonna hit the patches of it with different mix this year … probably 2,4-d & duracor. Or maybe just duracor. Lots of options though.

Thanks for the info, it does appear related to milkweed in the leaves, and appears brush-like in the spring. I was fairly confident that it was nothing good so I hit it last weekend with Crossbow in the backpack sprayer. Crossbow is labeled for dogbane and I mixed it at the rate it calls for (pure luck there, having looked it up after the fact). The plants were pretty tall so I'll have to see what happens. I'm sure I'll have to hit it again either way to clean up what I missed.
Thanks again

Pictures from a couple days ago. They definitely aren't liking the crossbow but I'm not sure if they will die, should have hit them a few weeks earlier.

A couple more if anyone knows what they are. The first one looks native, the next 2 are the same and look questionable to me. Both tend to grow in patches in semi open areas.
