Planting Willows???

I see that many of you guys post threads and pics of planting willow trees on IW but i was wondering what is the reason for it??? thanks

Willows are also fast growing trees that grow in a variety of soils, etc. Obviously bottom soils is where they thrive but u could add them into a screening planting, etc- if it's 1 of the rows. Obviously 6x6 has a great idea that's a totally different animal- check that out for sure

What's not to like, as the fastest growing tree genus to create cover, deer love eating them, rubbing on them, hiding in a thicket of them, and fertilizing them. For the artist in someone, they could even weave them together into a living blind. Also could work good for someone without many trees -for planting in a certain spot, and wait short few years for perfect place to put tree stand.

I have some big willow trees in my yard. Not the weeping. I trim them and stick the trimmings in some water. In a few days roots are sprouting. Take them down by my creek and stick them in the ground. Bucks search them out to rub on. Unfortuantely,,the drought killed most of them last year. A few however,,, made it, and kept growing. I'm gonna do more this spring.
