Poison Oak

THA4

A Few Steps Ahead Of You
I have this shiz covering 80% of my body and it seems to be spreading.... I'd post pix but this is a family site... It is so miserable I can't even explain it....

Anyone know why its spreading and why it won't go away? Any suggestions on how to get rid of it? Bleach????

I wanna slam my head in a car door right now...

About a month ago I thought I had poison oak and it was spreading up my legs every night but I wasn't itching it. I woke up one night to a bunch of tiny and I mean tiny bugs crawling up my legs. I somehow got some off and washed them off with a quick shower.

They turned out to be seed ticks, I hot them from another tick laying a seed in my and it hatched. The seed ticks will actually not stay attached for long. They usually bite on for 5 minutes then go to a different and do the same. I thought it was poison oak because it was bubbling up.

I'm not saying you got these but, there's still a chance.

I can think of a few people that would wail if that happened to them

I would go to the doctor and get that shot they have to help with the itch if it is that bad. I did notice that the poison oak / ivy is all over. It seemed every tree I wanted to hang a stand in this weekend was covered in the stuff and it always seemed the best spot had the worst trees with it.

Zanfel

Over the counter...Zanfel Poison Ivy Cream.

A bit spendy but it worked for me. Works on poison ivy and poison oak.

Rub it in hard and it eventually dries out the affected areas and then it quits spreading.

Thomas, sorry man, not much worse but as you probably know, DON'T Itch!! Will make the inflammation worse. Not that it matters, but may be something else like ivy as I didn't think We had poison oak here, more of a southern species.

Bottom lines, use ice packs and cold baths until You can go to ER or doc and get injection (steroids ).

You have poison ivy bud. Poison oak does not grow in Iowa. You could have chiggers real bad. Bad chigger bites look just like poison Ivy.

Yup, zanfel works. Grind it in then get to the doc for a shot

I had it bad on my arms a few years ago. Go to the doc and get a shot and some prednisone pills. Helps out a ton.

Thomas,
Make sure you have washed everything you touched when you think you may have got it. The oil will stay active for a while and allow it to spread. And Zanfel worked for me the one time I had it bad. If that fails start yourself on fire... :D

This sounds like something you "caught from a toilet seat".

For everyones sake I'd try slamming your head in a car door. Otherwise take the doctor route.

Zanfel will help with the itch and take some of the urishol (sp?) oil out. Then as others have said, get to the doc ASAP and, pull down your pants and get a steroid shot on a cheek and then get a prednisone prescription. Sounds like you got into the stuff pretty good. I've been there. :(

If LX Shooter is still around, could you please posts those pics of you with poison ivy. Purely for info and educational purposes. If I remember right his head looked like it had, in fact, been slammed in a car door.

If it's really bad, prednisone BUT.... If you get that, REQUEST Betamethasone Cream!!! Do not forget this. It's a prescription steroid cream that is the BEST. Can't hurt doing above as well and I'm sure some of those are great things too.
