Pond vegetation issue?

Had some vegetation show up and we identified it Sunday. Anyone know the best way to deal with this?

I don't like the idea of spraying chemicals in our pond. The farmers do enough of that without me adding more.

Hijacking the post but I am in the same boat with what I am calling coontail. I’d be down for chemical control if anyone knows of a way to get rid of it.

Bro has ours NUKED!! I’ll ask him what he used again. I do know he used a pond dye so sunlight didn’t keep the weeds growing like crazy. I’ve seen him use copper sulfate too. I’ll ask about the herbicide he used. Mixed with an oil so it stayed on top - roasted the weeds.

If memory serves me correctly, look at the label of copper sulfate as I think it warns against skin damage to catfish.

Look up Diquat.
It’s like Paraquat but the acid that’s in it isn’t as strong. Still a strong chemical so I would try to keep it off of myself as much as possible.
