I wouldnt waste your time with records they mean nothing, most deer are never recorded. Even if they were %100 accurate and every deer was recorded you cant judge a property by what county its in, there are way to many variables terrain features, soil quality, direct hunting pressure, and many more. You can have two farms in the same county and have them only a few miles apart and yet there potential still be worlds apart.

I don't know about P & Y, but on Iowa DNR website, Monona Co. is ranked #6 of all counties in the state for the number of big game entries into the books. There are plenty of good deer in the area.
Here's one my dad killed in the early 80's in Monona Co. It's never been officially scored, cause pops don't care about the numbers. I put the tape to it and came up with 202 NT.

Just look at it as good deer within the county and be content and not what numbers are in the books. If you are really tied up with net scores and NEED to have something in the Boone and Crocket size class, Sask, Canada is the place you want to go for a hunt and still may get skunked. Iowa has some really nice animals but there is not a Booner behind every tree, regardless which county you go to.

I'm working on it. Just gotta figure out how to do it and keep it a surprise. My taxidermist wants $200 for a cape and then $375 to do the mount. He does awesome work, but it seems a little high. Plus he takes a long time and Dad's B-day is in June. Anybody know a great taxidermist near Kansas City that could have it done by June 1?

Hey! I have a cape at my taxidermist I am not going to use. You can have it if you want it. It is a little on the short side, but its FREE!
