Possibly a really dumb ?

Ok Guys, have been pretty happy with the bow shooting, had a few little issues that I think I figured out but I have a latest one.

The other night my release loop came untied on one end, now I have no loop to clip my release into. The guy who sold me the bow emailed me a link how to do it yourself but needless to say.........no luck. I think the string isn't long enough. Anyways, I seriously don't want to drive 3 hrs one way to have that thing retied. I know of nobody else near me who does it, closest place is a solid 2 hrs away. Here's the ?. Can I add a nock where the loop came untied and simply shoot a release off of the string instead of shooting a release with the loop? Is it possible. I apologize for how dumb this sounds but bear in mind I'm a beginner to this archery bit and I've got the shooting part figured out, the technical aspect,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I'm still pretty dumb.

yes you can (and some prefer) to shoot directly off the string. It will change your draw length slightly tho.

This might help,, They are not that hard to tie with a little visual ,, You still might need a longer section if your old one is too short. I'm sure one of the archery shop guys on here could hook you up with a pkg of them. I have had a release move a knock point before so I wouldn't recommend it ,the release is also alittle rough on your serving.

howatt's link is as easy as i've ever seen it posted. you might try that a few times. you can tie it down so the loop is super super small and work it out so it fits right. if not get another string and stick it on there and trim it down. make sure the ends are heated up to big bulbs so they don't slip through.

I agree, I have shot the not for alot of years. If your string loop material is to short it will be difficult to tie the loop. WHat I have found best is to do the loop (Like HH) with a larger rope (that is easier to handle for clummsy fingers) is learn how the loop is made and then transfer the new found knowledge to the string loop material.

If you type in Tying archery D-loop on a you tube search, there are some videos out there that will assist you! Once you see it, it will take a bit but really is not too hard to do! Just make sure you have a good ball on the end. Otherwise if youwould like to pm me, I can see if I can help walk you through it. In most cases we cut 4 to 4.5 inches of loop material to tie them!

Shooting off the string is okay, but it will change the draw length some! It will also wear you serving out much faster!

Here is a link, it is spanish and is goofy as hell, but he ties a good loop!

please let me know if I can help in any way!

Dancing D- loop!

Also, once tied, use a pair of needle nose pliers to stretch the loop!

Just pm me your addy and I will send you a loop. It looks like there are 2 very good examples of how to tie it. If there is anythint I can do just let me know. I agree with Muddy that is one of the best examples I have ever seen.

I shoot without the loop and attach my release directly to the string.

Its one less thing to go wrong.

Kaare,

To more directly answer your question... Yes, you can add a nock very near to where the top knot was tied on the loop and shoot your bow... nock the arrow under the metal nock. You will likely have to fine tune the location of the nock some ie. up or down to get the arrow to fly well.

Don't hesitate to ask "Dumb" questions on here... we are all at different stages of experience....

I personally sleep better at night learning from other peoples mistakes...

i now shoot a D loop, but i used to shoot off the string....i noticed it it wear on the serving, but i shot the same string without changing the serving for two years....thats hunting and 3-D comps. so it will hold up just fine for you.
but they are right about the draw length thing, shorter is better than longer IMO
