Hunter Injured Tuesday in Poweshiek County
A Montezuma man was airlifted to University Hospitals in Iowa City late Tuesday afternoon after being shot while deer hunting in Poweshiek County.
Dalton Hicks, 20, received a gunshot wound to the throat at approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday while hunting with six others south of Montezuma. The incident occurred when another hunter in the group took a shot at running deer hitting Hicks in the throat with a deer slug.
The incident is still under investigation by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
