Prepping for switchgrass

I didn’t get any prep work done last fall but I have the ability to disc an old, fallow cattle pasture right now.

Im also thinking about seeding (likely broadcasting a heavy seed rate) this weekend but curious to know how much time I’ll have to spray the flush of weeds/grasses that will come in the next couple of weeks?

Thanks in advance.

Personally, I’d wait until the soil temperature is warm enough for the switch to start growing quickly.

Closer to late May I’d get a good kill. Then quickly after I’d disc, pack, seed and repack. From there you can use your pre (then) or post (later).

I rotary tilled a few patches of brome last May and then seeded it thick right before a rain. Got a beautiful stand about 3’ tall first year. Didn’t have the option to spray most of the patches and rain stopped me from getting all but one patch packed.
Packed and sprayed was the best stand but not by a lot.
