Hey guys, how much does the average home-brew camera cost for you to make? I was thinking about trying it out this summer. It looks like they take awesome pictures, and are way more reliable then the cameras you can buy from retailers.

The price mostly hinges on the camera used. To give you some comparitive numbers, I just finished one using a Sony P41 which I paid $110 for. Total price of build was about $250. You can get certain other cams in the ballpark of $50 though if you catch a deal so you might be able to get down to around $200 or just under for the types of setups most guys seem to prefer. Those numbers don't include extra memory, battery charger if you prefer, cable locks or other security extras, etc.
