Well tag one of two is now filled.
Had a horrible day at work and last thing I wanted to do was be around people so I decided to head to the timber at 4 after work. Decided to go to a stand that my friend and I had hung a few years prior. The next year he passed away in a traffic accident as he was heading to school.
As I am walking to the stand there is already a doe under the stand and I thought I had blown it. I had been reading on here a lot about guys saying that hunting in a light rain is ideal. So I decided to stick it out and sit for the evening. 5 pm comes around and it is starting to get a little dark so I knock the antlers together for a bit and next thing I know this guy is coming towards me. Any other stand I probably would not have shot this buck as he is not very wide at all. However, he does have 12 points one which is broken off. This was a very emotional kill for me as it is out of the stand that we had hung several years back and I wanted to take a deer from the stand in his memory.
So this deer is for my friend Cody.
Not the biggest buck I have ever shot but this one by far means the most to me.

One tag down still got the landowners tag left for bow.
Sorry for not having a decent picture. It was dark when I decided to start tracking him. I plan on doing a skull mount with it.

Any hunt is to be cherished in and of itself but there are those hunts with extra meaning that will always have a special place in your hunting memories because they trigger so many more memories than just the hunt. You are keeping your memories of Cody alive through the memories of the hunt.

Congrats on a nice deer and making memories.

Congrats on the buck and a well placed arrow.

Now when you see the deer above your wall, you will see your friend is still with you everyday. I'm sure he was watching from above as you took such a nice buck.

Way more to deer hunting then the harvest, the older I get the more I realize that the killing is only one small part.Glad you could honor your friend with such a great buck.
