Question about broadheads...

Do any of you use the same broadheads to hunt turkey as you do for deer? I have been browsing some magazines and noticed a couple of broadhead manufactures that make a mechanical broadhead for turkey. I was wondering why I couldn't use my regular mechanical for turkey hunting. This spring will be my first time archery hunting turkey. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i used to use the same until recently i started using expandables on birds and also trying expandables on deer. i have successfully used rocket mini blasters on several birds and deer. there is one pictured below. i also used a fixed blade muzzy but to keep it inside the bird i put an "adder point" on behind it, which is also pictured below. when a bird flies off i think it's important to keep the broadhead inside that sucker. any expandable will back out of a bird i have found. a normal old muzzy tends to blow through a turkey and they don't leave good trails. this spring i had my adder pointed muzzy blow through a bird, the hole was the size of a quarter. this fall i'm using rocket hammerhead 4L's which are 2 inch cutting diameter with 4 blades. i shot a doe with one last night and the hole was wicked big. hopefully i can test one on a turkey soon enough. gotta run, doing a late morning all day sit. here's the pic of teh broadheads. oh, i forgot, the one broadhead has a "scorpion point" on it which is just the wire thingys that are on a judo point but with a broadhead. these suckers really dig in, but they also tend to rip fletchings off. good luck.

When I'm just strickly turkey hunting in the spring I use the expandable's. When sitting in the fall I use the fixed just in case old Mr. Bucky walks by. I'm usually in a stand in the fall so my shot is downward. The bird I just shot this fall was temporaraily pinned down due to the arrow trajectory. If you are hunting from the ground I would definately use the expandables. Good luck!!

Thanks all. I am going to try my same ones for deer. I know my arrow flies straight with them. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
