I was on Facebook and noticed a harvest photo of and really nice deer shot in Iowa this year by and guy in his 30s+. I commented and asked when he shot it and he said just recently. It was fair chase in urban area's. He said he earned and buck tag by shooting Does. Is this right or not i thought I heard of something like this but not sure.

Yes, that is the way most urban hunts work. You shoot so many does and you earn a buck tag either for later in the curent season or the following year ( depends on the city or area).

The urban hunt I participated in years ago you got your name in a hat one time for each doe you shot this year for a buck tag next year. If you drew the buck tag the next year you had to shoot one doe before you could obtain your bonus buck tag. I know that it is done differently in different communities. I have already heard of a big one shot in an urban area over the weekend.

Urban hunts are far from easy but offer some great opportunities if you are willing to put up with hunts interrupted by walkers, hikers, bikers, boaters, and scruffy bearded men bathing nude in the river (seriously!).:D

Every city is different, I know the guy and he has been doing the city hunt for quite awhile. You would have to be a moron to put it on facebook if it wasn't legit.

Happened at least once last year that I know of, lol

Was he a 4-1/2 or 5-1/2? Sorry, had to ask!! :D Don't tell me you didn't get your binos out either! :D

I figured someone would go there Daver! It was a buddy who "observed" the bathing so I can't comment on the binos.
