Quick Late Antlerless Question- Party Hunting?

Quick one, I can't find in the regulations...
Got a buddy that wants to buy a NR doe tag for late antlerless season & party hunt because doesn't want to buy 5 tags at say, $250 or whatever. Just wants to buy one tag for the $250. Can you party hunt & transfer tags like shotgun season?? Anyone know? Just trying to save a bunch on silly high doe tag prices. Thanks!

The only season you can party hunt is shotgun deer. Every other season is shoot your own, from deer to pheasant to duck or whatever. That is straight from my co.

Thanks DGorman, really appreciate the feedback!!! That was quick & just what I needed to know. Guess I'll ask my buddy if he really likes deer meat - at say $5/lbs in tag cost alone?!?!? :)

Party hunting is allowed in the late January antlerless only season too. I'm not sure if that is the season you were asking about. I'm not sure about the NR part of your question.

I stand corrected. It's on the bottom of page 22. January antlerless is included with shotgun seasons. Maybe he said only shotgun season since we don't have the January season where I live. Sorry about the bad info.

Late antlerless season is resident only.
It is for non residents also,as long as there is tags left. And party hunting is allowed.
FOR 2012

The quota for optional Antlerless-only licenses
remains the same at 4,500.
Nonresident hunters will be allowed to purchase
Antlerless-only licenses for the January Antlerless Season
beginning Jan. 11, 2013, in those counties that still have
licenses available. (2013 Iowa Nonresident Small Game

Hunting License required).

Is this a new reg? My dad wanted to come up 2 years ago and he couldn't do to it being resident only, and we still had a ton of tags left. It stated it in the regs that it was resident only (at the time).

That was the November antlerless, it no longer exists.

According to the DNR website it still exists...if tags are left in the county you can apply for a NR anterless tag use a gun, bow or muzzleloader and I think it said the tag was $78

Season was around the holidays...can't remember the exact dates

There are different quota's for NR, and no November season!

Nonresident January Antlerless Season
3 Jan. 11 - Jan. 20, 2013 Jan. 11 - End of Season
Nonresident Holiday Season 4,5 Dec. 24 - Jan. 2, 2013 Dec. 15 - End of Season

I dont think so. I know of a couple non residents that have done it the last two years.

I think I know exactly what happened. NR doe tag quota's are not the same as resident quota's. By the time late rifle season got here, the NR doe quota's were gone, but the resident quota per county still had plenty of tags. I think that is where I got confused.

I am nearly shocked that you are helping someone that wants to hunt the late antlerless season, Sligh. Lol

that's funny obviously because there's some truth and irony there of course! Totally get it.
I will say, I don't care if ANYONE disagrees with me.... I'm in a pocket that does need some thinning, on my own land & we'll sit with binocs glassing for minutes if needed to make 100% sure it's a doe & the thing has no idea we are there. Gone 20 years without shooting ONE button buck or shed buck. We aren't shooting at running deer, we don't jump a group, we don't blast at 300 yards with a rifle without 100% identifying, etc. Personally, I don't worry about me or folks with me BUT again, I don't care if someone disagrees- 90% of folks are not in this situation & don't do what we do. Fact. I watch other groups, I see the yahoos, I see the meat lockers, I talk to the DNR and I know the "everyday" guy who is out there blasting for some fun.
Good & ironic point you make though!
