Quick question about the antlerless NR tags....

I had no intention of applying for a NR license this year and coming down, but the guy that took me hunting when I was 15 when I shot my biggest buck to date is getting up there in his years and might not be able to hunt much longer so now I'm considering coming down to hunt with him if I can get one of these - "The quota of 3,500 optional nonresident antlerless licenses will go on sale on July 26th."

Anyone know if those are statewide tags or zone specific? Specific to any season? I'd be heading to zone 7 for second shotgun.

Thanks...

Re: Quick question about the antlerless NR tags...

Not sure if the county map is out yet.

From the IDNR website:
Nonresidents who have not claimed landowner preference
and who have not purchased an Any-deer/Anterless-only
combination license may purchase one of the 3,500 optional
Antlerless-only licenses. The optional Antlerless-only licenses
will be issued on a per-county quota basis. Some counties will
not be available for optional Antlerless-only licenses. The quota
of optional Antlerless-only will be posted on the DNR website in
July shortly before license sales begin.
These licenses are valid only in the county and season
specified on the license. Optional antlerless-only licenses
will only be issued for either of the two regular gun seasons
or for the disabled hunter season. Licenses are sold first come,
first served beginning 6 a.m. CDT July 26 and will
remain on sale until the quota is filled or the last day of the
season for which the license is valid, whichever occurs first.

Thanks man - guess this option is out. I was going to hunt Black Hawk county and there aren't any avaialble. Oh well.

Re: Quick question about the antlerless NR tags...

was this available last year?? I heard that they did away with the nr's being able to buy OTC doe tags and being able to hunt since some are shooting bucks instead.

Re: Quick question about the antlerless NR tags...

As far as I know, since party hunting is legal, a nonreseident can buy one of these tags and shoot a buck as long as one of the party is willing to take a doe in place of it. I know guys who are doing just that.
