Quick Spin Vanes

Hey I was wondering if anyone has problems with their quick spins getting wrinkles in them in a very short period of time? I have shot these fletchings maybe 60 or 70 times before they start to wrinkle. Is there a way to straighten them back out or is this a normal thing for the quick spins?

Man, I don't think that mine even lasted 60 shots last year before wrinkling. This year switched to Blazers and they seem WAY more durable.

I just noticed that on mine a few days ago. They're still grouping really good so I wasn't too concerned about it. I've got blazers on a few of my arrows but still shoot better with the quickies.

My dad had the same problem with his quick spins, after he listened to me (for once) an got blazers he hasn't had any problems with wrinkled vanes. Blazers are the way to go.

i've got the quickspin 2" speed hunters, and i dont think i've had any problem. Ive shot them alot. 200 times plus. If there is wrinkles its not enough for me to notice. Ill have to go look. I agree with blazers, either 2" quickies or i like the bohing blazers also. Good Luck

When my standard vanes get wrinkled, I just boil a glass of water in the microwave, then dunk the arrow/vane in for 10-15 seconds. Usually when they cool off they will straighten out some. This wont work if they are in real bad shape though.

What causes them to wrinkle? I thought maybe my WB was doin it to them. If a feather fletching gets a little out of shape they tend to "whistle" in flight. Does a wrinkled vane make noise too?

Thanks.

the 4" wrinkle aot and quick. i tried some once, and junked them. i am tempted to try their speed hunters. looks like a blazer, with the little kicker on the back

Well I went to blazers this year and after spending about 135$ on a dozen, I will shoot them this year, but I find that when I throw on the ocassional white fletched/ white dipped feathered arrow to sling out there, I like it better.

Maybe its me, but I think I like the stability of the feathers and certainly the visibility better. The blazers have a whole season here to impress me due to the cash commitment.

Are you guys seeing that much better flight with blazers? What is your reasoning for shooting them?

I started shooting the blazers because my sons whisker biscuit tore up the normal 4 inch veins. I found they grouped better, especially with a fixed blade broadhead like the Montec. At least that was my observation. BTW, I've never had to use the hair dryer on the blazers.

Hey thanks for the replies.

I love the vanes; they shoot really well. They just wrinkle fast which had me wondering. I've never shot shorter than 4 inch fletching so I'm pretty hesitant on going to the blazers and what not. Is there any benefit other than the wrinkles for anyone shooting the blazers?

I know my 4in quikspins didnt make it 50 shots and they were rinkled.

I switched to the 2in speed hunters, and havent had trouble since.

for me there is no reason to have extra feather or vane out there because the blazers do what the 4" used to just as well. it doesnt cost much you should try em. you'll probably stay with them if you give em a try. my dad is really leary about new stuff cuz all the old ways have worked for ages, but i got him to try the blazers and he loves em... good luck...
