quiver on or off bow.

A question for anyone who has done spot and stalk type hunting out west. Do you prefer to have your quiver mounted on your bow or use some type up a back quiver type system?

All I do out here is spot and stalk/still hunting through the timber and my quiver stays on. Its easier for me because I've found deer can just materialize at 30 yards and having my arrows right there minimizes my movement. I don't know too many people out here (in AZ, at least; a couple of friends in CO) that don't hunt with their quiver attached.

Just remember to practice shooting your bow with it however you plan to hunt with it. If you practice with the quiver off or empty of arrows the bow balance will be different than it will be with the quiver on and full of arrows. This will cause you to torque the bow differently. Just a helpful tip. Good luck this season.

Excellent point and advice that I forgot to mention. I've been shooting that way for so long I just take it for granted. Very good point. By the way, where out west are you planning on going? If there's a chance you are heading this way, let me know.

I'm heading to North Dakota mule deer hunting in September. This will be my first time trying spot and stalk hunting. Thanks for the advice on practicing with the quiver on the bow. I am a treestand whitetail hunter, I don't practice with the quiver on my bow and I remove it from my bow as soon as I get in the tree. I can hardly wait for September to get here.

Spot and stalk is a blast. I've had muley does run up to within 30 yards of me to check me out. And then I've been busted by elk (within 20 yards) while stalking deer. Just remember slow and steady and keep the wind in your face! Good luck and send pictures!
