Rattling Antlers

What is your guys and gals choice for rattling as far as antlers? (sheds, rattle bag, synthetic horns, ect.) I have been using synthetic for a couple years now but I just don’t think they are very realistic sounding. I’ve heard people say that sheds are the best for creating the real sound. Is that true or will the other products work as well?

I've had my best luck with "cut-off's" I used the bags, fakes for quite a few years and really liked the convenience but they do not sound as good as real antler (imo). It's kinda like a decoy......it's a pain in the butt to lug it out there but once you harvest something with it it is worth the extra efforts. I also cut the brows off mine (read it here on IW) it sure saves your fingers when you are bangin'em together.

Personally, in my opinion, I feel that shed antlers make the best sounds for replicating a buck fight. I did use rattling bag's for years and had success, but I just think that the real antlers sound better.

I use nice heavy sheds. They sound much better and I have a nice pack that has allowed me to develop and efficient system for getting them to woods with me without too much trouble. (I haven't rattled anything in with them other than dinks but they sound good to me)

I use a set of heavy 4x4 140" antlers... cut off the brow tines, sanded down the burs, drilled holes in the bases to run a rope through so they are attatched. I also cut off about 1/2" off each tine and rounded them off so they don't cut me up when I accidently catch my hands with them. Also drilled 1/8" holes into the tips of these tines (seems to give a better sound and amplifies the sound). Then, I tie a loop in the rope, not in the middle, but closer to one side than the other, that way when I hang them from a hook in my tree the antlers are offset and they don't bang together when the wind picks up.

I used rattling bag for about 3-4 years with little success, then went back to the real deal and they have had a part in harvesting a buck every year since.

I use the real ones two, two different sheds that I found that are nearly the same size. Took the brows off both and sanded it down real good so I don't bust my hands up. Carry them in my backpack along with my camera and ez-hanger and they are no more of a burden than the rest of my hunting gear.

I have a couple good sized right antler sheds that I use. Brows gone and connected with a stretchy elastic stringy thingy so I can wrap them up and carry them out quietly. NOTHING beats the sound of real horns.

THAT'S WHAT I WAS FIGURING. NOW I NEED TO FIND A LEFT SIDE 70" SHED TO MATCH UP TO THE OTHER ONE TO MAKE A GOOD SET. THANKS FOR THE INFO. AND INPUT.
