That's not a bad idea. Rattling antlers are a pain to pack in.

Very seldom do squirrels chew antlers here.

in the right spot they can be gone in a couple days here on the ground. Years ago I caught a trespasser on my father in-laws property. As I kept screaming at him to get out of the tree he left his rattling antlers hanging. He took his stand and climbing sticks.
Anyways I watched them get whittled away in a hurry that season as I had a stand within sight. I was actually in the stand when I looked over my shoulder and spotted the guy trying to slip out of his stand to get away.
