Rattling Success

I finally succeeded in rattling a couple of bucks this morning. Kind of a funny story I thought I would share.

Last year I used a rattling bag and had no success. In fact I saw a couple of bucks hightail it when they heard the rattle. So this year I got some nice antlers. Here's how: A friend had given me a deer antler coat rack as a wedding gift some years back. A nice set with antlers measuring about 125 inches. Well my coat rack is no more and I know have a couple of antlers to head to the tree with.

The first two times I took them up in my Lone Wolf climber this year I managed to drop them before I could put them to use. What a feeling watching them drop and thinking no way am I heading down to get them.I could only laugh at the miscue.

Today I went up one of my ladder stand a succeeded in holding on to the set. After my first session I has two bucks under my tree within 5 minutes. Neither were shooters but now my doubts and failures with using antlers are no more.
I hope to take a trophy after banging the horns so I can own up to my buddy and let him know how is wedding gift has been put to better use.

any friend that would give a antler coat rack for a wedding gift would understand that a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do. Tell him, it would probably make his day. Great story.

Not to mention your wife is probably thrilled to be rid of such an eyesore. It'll teach her right though, when you get a bigger buck to display in the livnig room instead of a coat rack in the mud room.
