The iowa DNR have been busy contacting other states to compare who has been recieving iowa residency tags and residency tags for another state. They have been contacting the people who have done this in the past. A friend is meeting with the DNR today concerning his resident tag in iowa and his resident tag in MO. The DNR is tracking many people who have done this and they will probably get a phone call. I would recommend that if anyone is doing this to stop before things get expensive. They are going easy on the ones that did this in the past but will be tagging on a very high fine for the ones in the future who try this.

QD is right, a friend from Mich tried that 2 years ago and got busted.Tried to tell him not to,but he won't listen.Comment was "What are the odds they will check"

Happened to someone I know that lives in Nebraska but went back to Iowa and killed a turkey using a resident tag. The CO showed up at his door one day, took the turkey out of his freezer, hit him with a fine and suspended him from getting an Iowa license for a year.

This is one thing I have always struggled with. I grew up, lived and hunted in Iowa until I was 23. I live in Omaha and do almost all my hunting back in Iowa where I grew up. It's hard as hell paying the Non-resident license fees. It would be nice if the state would give some consideration for individuals like myself but then again I'm sure there are thousands like myself and the state isn't willing to let those $$ go down the drain.

A friend of mine thoght about doin that in Nebraska and livin in Iowa,but,thankfully I talked him out of it.he listened when I told him that he could lose his hunting privileges for ahile if he did get caught.

A guy I know from Wisconsin did the same thing about 4 years ago. He ended up getting a letter telling him to pay the difference between the non-res and res deer tag price. He paid it. I think Iowa and WI use the same license supplier, ELSI, so it makes it pretty easy for them to catch you.

When we were originally looking to move we considered CB but that was 8 years ago and it was still "the arm pit of Iowa". Needless to say things have changed over the past 8 years and things are looking much greener on the Iowa side of the mighty mo!

Council Bluffs has changed alot over the years.Like any other town it still has its share of problems though.

These famous people/hunters that you speak of may be getting govenor tags. The state will issue tags to hunters that promote hunting in the state of Iowa (like that needs to be done). It appears that theses guys draw every year but really they don't they are recieving tags from the IADNR known as governor tags. My 2 cents.

I checked one and he did apply for a non resident bow tag but was turned down so if he does get a govenor tag that you speak of would it show up on the site with the drawing results?

Also if these 2 were to get them why not like Bill Jordan, Micheal Waddel, and many other famous hunters? (i know micheal blanton recieved a gun permit for second season)

thanks guys maybe all will be ok but these days ya gotta keep your gard up you never know what you may come across in life....n if im wrong i'll apoligize but i try to keep and eye and ear out to listen for wrong doings....that can be good sometimes, and sometimes bad.

Huntn4life88, you may or may not be correct in what you are suggesting, but I would suggest that you have your facts in line before you make a post like this. If I was that person, and wasn't doing anything wrong, I sure wouldn't want this kind of rumor being put out on a website - and at this point, it is just a rumor. Maybe I sound a little harsh, but I have seen too many people attack and hurt other another person without knowing the facts. It's a lot easier (and wiser) to be accurate than sorry.
