I'm new around this site but what better way to say hello than to share this monster. I saw this posted on another forum that I visit. A new state record buck was taken by Bill Crutchfield, Jr. of Charles County near his home in Newburg, Maryland. Crutchfield watched the buck for approximately two hours mid-day Monday before finding an opportunity to take the massive deer with a single shotgun round.

Maryland DNR Wildlife & Heritage Service and Natural Resources Police personnel examined the buck on Tuesday. DNR staff confirmed that the buck has 26 scoreable points (13 per side) and a preliminary antler score of 268 5/8 inches. If approved by national scoring organizations, the buck will eclipse the current Maryland non-typical record by 40 inches, becoming the number one non-typical buck ever taken on the entire East Coast, and ranking among the top 20 all-time largest non-typical deer in the world.

Actually that field photo is one of the best I have seen. It is a tru giant. The cape is also really cool...

I know that is an incredible buck, one of the biggest of 2006 for sure but....does that rack dwarf that body or is the body on that deer as little as it looks to me.

He is getting a full body mount done so, I am sure they were careful.

From what I have read. He was somewhere around 180 on the hoof.

This buck dressed 150. I hunt a mile of where it was shot A real big buck will dress 200. My buddy killed a 6 1/2 8 point that scored 164 last year it was only 130 pounds. The key to 200 pound deer here is to kill them before the rut. The two bucks I shot opening day, one was 4 1/2 and 170 pounds and the other was 3 1/2 at 130 pounds, normal for southern Maryland. It makes the 140s look like 180s and so on, it is hard to keep it together in the stand.
 
monster set of horns, but the body is not enormous....im not taking anything away from it at all!!! i guess being from iowa we are spoiiled with heavy shoulders fat bellies. not me, i mean the bucks

either way that thing is a giant any where you go. ill bet that guy thought he was killin a world record. that would be close enough for me
