Recurve String Question

I'm looking to get a new string for one of the recurves I'm practicing with.
Just wondering if the numbers on the pic below meant it was a 52" string?
Thanks

Technically, strings are not made the exact length of your bow. You order by the size (52") of your bow and the string maker has it sized accordingly.

Its an old Bear Kodiak Magnum that my dad had in the basement. He's got a few of them laying around so I decided I'd try one out. Been practicing the most with one that I made way back when.

If that's an old bow, it probably needs a dacron string. If the tips aren't of certain materials, limited stretch strings will ruin them.

River Bottom was right, the AMO length is the over-all length of the bow from tip to tip over the longest way. Strings should be made about 3.5" shorter to get the right Brace height.
Your strings should be made from Dacron or you will rip the ends off your nice old bow.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Now, where's the best place to pick up a dacron string?
I see the ones at Cabela's are on backorder for 3-4 weeks.
