Resin Treestand

I just saw an ad about these today. It's an all resin built treestand. It says no noise and can support 300lbs. I don't know if i would trust my 250lbs to a plastic deerstand.

What are your thoughts?

Does the seat fold up? To me it looks like it wouldn't with that bar under it. I don't know if that would make a difference for you, thats just what I saw.

ya... im not sure about that....

plastic and extreme cold are not a good mix....

An interesting concept for sure. The no noise aspect is good, but I don't recall my steel stands being noisy while sitting in them. I am pretty still in them anyway. I too would be concerned with the strength.

I gotta agree with this...

Back in the day, before I was smart enough to ALWAYS wear a safety belt while in a tree stand, I had a plastic seat that strapped to the tree. (I had my own homemade stands back then that rarely had seats attached, so I used this plastic seat in combination with those stands.)

Well, it was a little slippery and I had the bright idea to attach some sandpaper to the seat with some glue so my big butt did not slip around so much. (Insert applicable redenck joke here. :)) Well it worked great until one day when it was quite a bit colder and I was sitting on the seat/sandpaper when the glue suddenly released and I slid forward quite quickly and unexpectedly, almost falling out of the stand. YIKES!!

All of that to say this, in colder temperatures plastic contracts fairly dramatically compared to some other materials, namely metals. I would be quite suspicious of plastic as a platform to stand on, especially in colder or wetter conditions.

you cant doubt the plastic, most of our new handguns are made of the same stuff. im not sayin that one is perfect, but i wouldnt be scared of plastic

I wouldnt be scared of the plastic. I will agree about the thought slippery when wet. They wouldnt make and sell something if it was going to snap at or below freezing. If its rated for 300 than it will hold more.

I really dont care for the look of the stand in general but to each thier own.

Resin,, What Resin, lots of them out there some good, some not so good.
Looks like an Asian import, you think they could be more original with the platform shape.
Try before you buy, but then let us know.

I do like the adjustable seat, but its no lonewolf..... I do think it would be slippery. I had a rivers edge stand once that had the big plastic seat and I about slipped off that thing a thousand times. Plus it was noiser than heck when you put the seat down.

Is it any cheaper or lighter than other stands? I guess I'm having trouble finding the true advantage to it... Take care of your metal stands and they should be quiet as well.

I believe there website said 14.5 lbs, so there isn't any benefit in my opinion unless they are cheaper than a steel stand.

$179 ea, the price does not make it an advantage to me. Don't know what a LW or the Muddy stands cost, but I know I buy ones I love from Gander Mountain for around $70. I don't pack them in and out though like some of you so that I am sure is another factor.
