Reward for Lost Buck by BPS

I just read in the recent issue of Bowhunting World that Bass Pro Shops added a $5000 reward to anybody who can aid in locating the Andrews buck and those responsible. I had forgotten about that case but it really is unbelievable. To do that to ANYBODY is unacceptable..but to a 16 year old kid..I can't even imagine how bad he felt. Hopefully it turns up and I think one day he'll realize rack or no rack..he still accomplished something extraordinary! They also discuss the increase in racks stolen in Iowa. In any case, hopefully it helps flush em out. As they say...$ talks!

This is exactly why I would sell a large rack (right after I had a replica made) if I was lucky enough to bag such a deer. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

I hope he gets his rack back, but it isn't looking good at this point. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

While it's a nice gesture by Bass Pro, it's kind of pathetic too. I would imagine the person who has this mount on their wall now is probably not in Iowa and probably paid a lot more than $5000 for the rack. Just my opinion.

Of course, the original thief probably didn't receive $5000 for it and it's hard to say how many hands the rack has been through, but it would be nice if somebody along that racks road would step forward and man up or drop an an Anonymous tip.

That Andrews kid deserves to get what's rightfully his, BACK.

No collector in his right mind would ever buy this buck. Trust me, everyone in the antler business has heard of this buck and wouldn't think of touching it.

My guess is that this beautiful rack was either destroyed or is hid very, very well.

The repro Tom Sexton did for Brian is fantastic, but I'm sure not quitet the same as the real mccoy.

Oh, and sorry for the hijack. My thoughts after reading the orignal post were, "How can anyone stoop to the level where they take what's so precious to someone else...hmmm, well if someday I kill a big one I'm getting a replica made". /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Just read the article in the Sep-08 issue of N American Whitetail related to all of the recent stolen Iowa trophies. Real comforting feeling - NOT. The aspects within the article concerning lack of stiff penalties and the attitude towards these crimes by law enforcement is depressing.

Guy by my land was a major shed hunter (THOUSANDS) and had many mounts and euro-mounts, ALL STOLEN about 6 months ago. The guys had to have had a semi or made several trips. If I caught them, I'd have their heads mounted and hung above my fireplace. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I don't understand the motive behind this. Does a person steal it to say that he did it, which the loser can't tell anyone anyway, or do they steal it just so the official harvester doesn't have it anymore? I am confused what these peoples reasonings are.
So this guy steals Andrews buck, now what? he hides it... he can't possibly be so stupid enough as to hang it on his wall, can he? Like Iowabruce has said, knowbody is going to touch it.

Someone needs to set these guys up with a rack imbedded with lo-jack in it. I bet when you find one you will find a pile.

I know Iabruce and others are very well versed in selling racks legitimately, but obviuosly you guys have never seen/heard of people with more money than sense.

Don't fool yourselves for one minute that some tycoon in Texas wouldn't easily pay some serious cash for that rack...My guess is YES they would and they already have. No way is that rack in Iowa, and no way is it hidden. It's either been destroyed or somebody somewhere has it on display. If it gets talked about enough it just might surface, but if I were Mr. Andrews I wouldn't hold my breath.

Pure bullcrap that people do this to begin with. I would guess it stems from outright jealousy and quickly moves towards GREED...at any rate stealing is the ulimate display of disrespect and selfishness.

We stopped by our hunting cabin which is right next to a major road the other day just to check on things, and two mounts that we had in there for years were gone. One had a very unusual rack that would be very identifiable by anyone that has stopped by our place.

I have been searching EBay everyday trying to see if they show up, if they do It would be money well spent just to hand out a little arse whooping at the delivery.
