Right decision???

Alright guys this is a buck that i thought had potential to be a shooter this year. I passed him last year as a 3 year old 8 pointer. I am not sure what he would of scored before he was broke up. I guessed him at mid 150's. But i have seen him twice in the stand and passed him up. He broke off his G4 and half of his G3 on the right side. I am just worried because it is the biggest deer that i am consistently getting pictures of right now... Any comments? Am i making the right decision to let him walk? He could be a bruiser next year!

I think he could be a giant next year, and if you would not be happy killing busted up then you are making the right call. Another giant could cruise thru and you can kill him. My 2 cents

I would almost garuntee their is another deer of that size and maybe bigger, wait for the bucks to start cruising. I have had deer show up i have never seen before walk by, you Just got to be up there

Whatever makes you happy is the right call. I kind of like the busted up ones as long as they are not to bad.

Tons of good bucks have gotten the pass from me because they were busted up. Just something about it, I can't shoot one that is busted up. He will be a giant next year I bet!!

You obviously didnt feel excited to have a busted rack or you would've shot. I say you made the right call. Its all about personal preference and what makes you happy. Cross your fingers he makes it til next year.

OPINION- I think if you are "on the fence" over him, I say walk. I think, whatever your standards are, it's a lot more rewarding to shoot that buck that you "just know" is a shooter for your standards, whatever they may be.
And ya, I personally don't like shooting things that are not near their potential but that's me & my opinion only. In that buck's case, I don't think he's near his potential but I could be wrong. Obviously your decision is all that matters.

I just wanted to see what others would say. I do not regret passing him, but I did eat my tag last year! My normal rule is that if he is questionable he needs to walk. Cant kill a 200 by shooting 150s right?

You'll only regret passing him if you see him in somebody else's harvest picture or you never see him again. Shoot what you want.. A taxi can make that rack look new again..
