Check your eye dominance and go from there. I changed 4 years ago (from Right to Left) and have never looked back. Also a good fitting bow and not to much bow is key here. The practice won't seem like practice if everything is fitting properly....you will not be able to set that bow down long enough. Have fun.

my left wrist is all messed up that is why i have problems. comfortablity do you have any suggestions? i am a big guy 6'7 275 31 inch draw with a release loop. just tryin to get an idea

I shot right handed for 4 years then I lost my right eye in a fishing accident 10 years ago. I didnt shoot for about 2 years then I bought a lefty. It was so odd. It took me along time before I was shooting good. All I can say is get a bow that fits you good, long axle to axle and practice, practice, practice.

Good luck

Moose i'm 6'1 and have a 30 1/2 draw length and want to know why your draw is so short for your height. Just curious?? I'm pretty sure your state allows handicapped the use of crossbows... technicly your unable to use a bow.

i dont like help alaskan tryin to use that as a last resort i would prefer to try left handed first. i dont much care if i even take the in the woods in the fall it is just an excuse for mama to ket me go hunting or sit outdoors in my favorite time of year. my draw length is not short id dont think isnt 31 inches rahter long, plus a put from a 1 to 1.5 inch loop to grab with my release makes me about 32 or 32.5 that is rather long i think not sure tough, guy at the game store only cuts about .25 inch of the blank arrows

I'm 5'11" with a 31" draw, and a string loop. I'm with the other guys saying that you might be shooting a bow that doesn't fit the greatest. If it all does fit, just practice, practice, and go to all the 3-d shoots you can, they really help when it comes to the moment of truth.

I know some people that have switched from right to left hand, takes time to do but once you get used to it, its no problem. my neighbor lost his right eye, and never switched from shooting right handed he just got custom pins made that went all the way over to his other eye. im 6'1 have a 29 inch draw length, i think everyone is just different, as you can tell from everyone elses draw lengths

Rudd is right guys, your eye dominance is the number one determining factor for which hand you should shoot with. You can shoot the other way but it takes many more hours of practice to form good consistancy. my 2 cents.

i have been checkin my eye dminanace and how do you tell. mean i am a guy that when i shoot out of a scope i keep both eyes open, i see the target through the scope and watch the hit out of my other eye. and this works when i shoot left or right handed? maybe i am just stupid but trying to figure it out. anyone got a left handed used bow for sale? thanks for the help

I had shot (bows/guns) RH for many years and after completely missing a turkey at 23yds. I realized it was time to make the switch. I now see the target completely clear. I do not see double pins and "accidently" close the wrong eye. The strength is easy to overcome with practice at lower poundage. I honestly noticed a difference the same day I decided to convert. The latest equipment is tough to get because the industry is somewhat prejudiced against south paws but you can also get some hellaceuos deals on stuff as well.

Let me see if I can explain how to determine eye domincance.

with both eyes open point your index finger at an object (clock, picture etc.) on the wall some 10-15' away.

Close your Left eye and if your finger has jumped or moved (left) off the object you have just proved that your Left eye is the dominant one. If when closing the left eye it stayed on the object than you are Right Eye dominant. There are ways to strengthen your non-dominant eye to become the dominant one. I just chose to go with was the most natural way to shoot....it was different at first but I have never looked back.

Or, point your finger at that picture but focus on the end of your finger with both eyes open. Now keep looking at the finger and slowly bring it towards your eyes. It will go to the dominant eye.

when i close my left eye my finger jumps two feet left per the objective of my right eye. performed the similar test with right but my finger doesnt move. so i take my left eye is dominant? so that means i should shoot left handed than? interesting not worried about the physical aspect of it just wondering if i should try a used left handed bow to make sure before i spend the big dollars.

sounds to me like your Left eye dominant. Time to search ebay for some left handed equipment. I just sold one on there last week. It was a steal of a deal at $190. Good luck.
