Yes,,today the Weather Service was right on target. Rain all across the NW of Iowa. Little in the south and southeast. We all better hope to get something today,,cause after this,,a long HOT,Dry, Spell! Everyone has been saying all Summer,,"Wheres the HEAT?", Well it is finally commin,,and will stay,,maybe for quite some time.

Unfortunate,,rain,,and a lot of it!,, Stayed north all day and evening. Only heat ahead. Not unfortunate for those up in northern Iowa, and Wis, guess some needed it. Unfortunate for my Rye,,which is idle,,waiting,,and heat is bound to,,with dwindling moisture,, on some of my Brassica slopes, definitely slow their growth. Was hopin to throw some fert on it too, if I got a soaker. No soaker down here SE. Not even dust settler.

Sorry to hear you didn't get the needed rain. Heard parts of IA got 9"+, which is way worse than getting nothing. We are forecast for half an inch thru tomorrow, but each new update it's lessening. Pretty large cracks in the ground but things are holding on ok.

Once again we were hit with 2-3" here.. Rain must follow me.. Every time I went to Skips this spring it rained down there, now I've been up here and we have been hit with every storm.

Totally missed us over night. Still have 7 days coming forecast 88 and above. Dang, could've used that drink.

Has beenmy observed ,observation, for the past 10 Summers, since I have been in Iowa.,,, Best rain chances during the Summers, resides I-35 and west and I-80 and north. Coarse always exceptions, but as a general rule, is the case. Also, all the weather is now in the EXTREME MODE. Like in precip,,no more just a general overall coverage.Like yesterday,,,some areas Flood warnings,,,other area not that far away,,cracks in the ground!. I have done pretttywell all summer here in EIowa,,but this summer I benefited from the fact that the heat domes, were not so strong down south,,so the fronts stopped many times across N-MO. When the fronts stall, the rains fall! Usualy by end of June the fronts are north along I-80 or even up into Minn. That is when it gets dry across southern Iowa and MO,cooler summer means action stays farther south. But now the heat is finally gonna take charge...is why most of the action is north now. Southern areas catch up on the moisture during the winters,,as many timesthe storm track is across MO and east,,missing NW Iowa. Just some of my weather ramblings and obsevations. I have cracks in my clay too now.

Sure does seem to be all or nothing with rain sometimes. Would have loved to share with someone needing it. Had 5" where I am but areas upstream had that or more and looks as though our food plots may go under. Have been fortunate most of this year, was able to get brassicas in back in July and rye mix recently. All was up and looking good as ever. Hope it goes up and back down fast so some may survive?? Not sure how much water either can take. Oh and the clover too:mad:. I guess we may have to replant some\all. Probably be too late for turnips. That will change late Muzzle if the food disappears...dang

Yea too much of a good thing! Sorry for that. It is Crazy that could happen in one 24 hr period. Like I said,,I live just east of Ottumwa and nary a drop. Well I will not be giving any more weather updates as we are headed into- Non-weather- for the forseeable future. Hot-Dry,,,I don't or won't,,even bother to examine the weather Service discussions,,until the atomosphere starts moving again. Nothing to read about.
