Rinehart 100 this weekend

Anyone headed up to Central City this weekend for the Rinehart 100? If you are, tomorrow is the last day to pre-register. A few buddies and I will there on Saturday. Hopefully we don't get held up to long behind big groups of people.

I'm going. Already preregistered. Was hoping for cooler weather with some of the mild temps we have had this summer but looks like it will be hot and humid.

I went to the one in Indiana a few weeks ago and both days it took 5 hours for the 50 targets

We have gone the past 2 years. This year we are having a hard time paying almost 100 bucks when we can hit a few other shoots that IMO are just as good for a total of 40 bucks.

I have to agree. The price for the shoot is really too high. What is it $60 at the shoot? No reason for it to be that high.
Throw in another $50+ for gas and then a hotel room and it all adds up. Not even figuring in beer money. :)

We like to shoot at Raccoon Ridge. 56 targets for only $11.

It was $50 if you preregistered. We shoot all 100 in 1 day. Took us about 8hrs last year. If they raise the price again we will probably start skipping it.

Muddy mess out there today.

Speaking of prices had a buddy just shoot today (50 targets) told him it was $30 since it's $60 for 100 but no, it was $40 to shoot 50 targets. We may not return either.

The mosquito's were terrible also. We started about 7:45 and shot in the rain the first 50. Finished about 2:30. My buddy's health app on his phone said we walked 7.3 miles.

Its a fun shoot but is not cheap. Shooting the elephant, giraffe and all the other African animals is cool. A person better be ready to shoot some longer distances also.

Today was grueling. 90+ degree heat and humid. Heat index had to be near 100. Course was crowded. Took about 5 hours to shoot 50 targets. Not a drop of water available along the way.

Five hours walking and shooting in severe heat and the only water available and cooler with drinks and candy bars for sale was right after target #50. WTF!?

We were all physically drained and our shooting suffered as our energy faded. Just can't believe they didn't see the need to help keep people hydrated and their blood sugar levels up in that kind of weather.

Honestly I doubt we'll go back. Just not worth the cost and not that enjoyable with the course conditions, slow movement and inadequate support/concessions.

I felt this last way last year! I really want to go to a different r100 and compare it to Iowa's.

I guess I will be the dissenting voice on this. My 15 year old son and I went to this event for the first time and shot the N American range Saturday and African range Sunday. We absolutely loved it. We did not think it was very crowded at all. Temps were about perfect although the bugs were a bit tough on Saturday (we brought spray so problem solved). There were no bugs at all on Sunday. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and seemed to be just enjoying the course.

We are going back next year. I thought it was a bargain. Maybe I am bit biased though since I won a Rinehart deer target during the door prize drawing yesterday! LOL.
