Rubber boot smell

This subject has probably been posted before, but I couldn't find a thread on it. I finally broke down and bought some rubber boots, but I can't get rid of the rubber smell. The smell is strong enough that I can smell it so I don't dare wear them hunting. Do any of you rubber boot wearing guys have any secrets on how to get rid of that smell?

I would wear them any chance you get. Outdoors, pheasant hunting, fishing, trapping or whatever. I've worn mine for just about everything. Before the season I fill them w/ water & that sport wash detergent, let them soak for a few hours, spray them out, air dry, & spray the inside & outside w/ scent killer, let them air dry.

If the outside smells like rubber, I would spray them w/ some kind of scent killer. But you MIGHT be OK, rubber doesn't smell like human scent. It will seem strange to deer but MIGHT not alarm them. Wear them once & see what happens.

Got to get rid of the rubber smell. Everyone knows deer are scared to death of rubber. THat's why they won't cross any roads where rubber tires have been used. I always drive my steel wheeled tractor to my hunting area after covering it in scent lock.

wear them as much as possible. wash them inside and out with some kind of scent killer soap... maybe several times in several days. and put them upside down outside in your backyard and leave them there whenever you are not using them for a week or more. any rain and the sun will get rid of alot of it. go sink them almost all the way up in mud to and let it dry. then wash it off again. all those combined should get rid of most of it.

Try this....

Degrease with a non smelling soap and very hot water a couple times. Rinse and while the boots or still wet rub a new/unopened box of baking soda on them and let dry. They should be white when your done.

Rinse with cool water when your ready to hunt. (Hot water will bring more oil/petroleum product to the surface.)

I gotta agree with the step in as many cow-pies as you can comment.

I'd worry more about the smell on the inside of the boots than a "rubber" smell on the outside.

Thanks guys, I am probably over reacting, but that smell seems like it would be so unnatural for the woods.
