Rusty Ladderstands?

Greetings,, Hunting ladies and gentlemen. Any of you that use ladder stands, and leave them out all year,, I have a question. I have had one out in a tree for a couple yrs now. Even though I repainted it with rust stop type paint. I see it is getting very rusty. Survace rust, to be sure, but how quickly dangerous will this condition become? I never thought of this when I bought them. I have a homade ladder out of treated wood, and I guess that is the way to go in the future. I have seen some stands claimed to be out of aluminum, but they are pricy.Anyone have a ladderstand rust away? Thank you all for your time.

They do get rusty if you leave them out year 'round. I pull mine and tighten bolts, check for rust and repaint if they need it. Rust is metal cancer. It will eventually lead to a disaster.
