Rut Timing:

Alot is said back and forth every season about timing of most rut activity, but D and D hunting keeps putting out most rut activity will come a little later this yr,,like second week of Nov. I know every area and deer herd is a little different. They said peak time last yr would be first week of Nov. They may have been lucky,,but by golly, in my area I saw the most movement during that week,, and by second week started seeing fawns wandering around lost and adult deer sightings sure dropped off.. A sure sign moms were with bucks already. I know to be safe though, be out there last of Oct thru first two wks of Nov. I have limited stands on 40 acres only so I do try to maximize when I am out most. Couple stands burn out,,stink up fast. I read another article said use any particular stand only once a week. By that standard I would only hunt two days in two weeks.

i try to stagger my stands so i dont burn them out but i think its a totally different buck your huntin the first two weeks of novemeber than the buck your huntin now...ive sat all day on stand and saw nothing and went back the next morning and got my buck within an hour so i just think you gotta hunt....a guy can worry himself into not hunting if a guy waited for everything to be perfect.....good luck....
