Safety Harness

MN Hunter

Active Member
I'm looking to invest in a new safety harness. I currently am using the Hunters safety system vest. It works great but am looking for something a little less bulky. I am looking at the muddy, hss or the spider. Any input on these products if you own them would be appreciated. The pro's and cons

Depends
Do you wear your harness under your camo, or on the outside?

I don't dig the spider harness cause the buckles are shiny gold, and the material that goes around your leg is almost a reflective silver.

My brother uses the muddy harness and likes it. I use an older seat of pants. And like how small it is.

I have the hss ultra light and it's great. Much less bulky than my old hss vest and the buckles are nice and quiet.

X2..... Purchased the Muddy for my woman and side by side the HSS ultra light is easier to use and IMO a little better design. I love Muddy products and in no way am I bashing them, just did a side by side comparison and chose the HSS over the Muddy, and Gorilla systems. All are nice though.

I'm going with the Muddy for a couple reasons. The size is just right and rigid enough to make it easy to get in and out of. I'm also planning on getting the quick steps and there is a place on the harness to hang them from as you set them in the tree.

I also tossed around getting the Gorilla, but the Muddy won.. Both definitely look easy to get in and out of and will save your life..

Buddy just bought a spider. I dont care for it. I use mine a lot for hanging stands with the climbing belt. The loops for the climbing belt on the spider are down by the thighs so if one leg is up the harness is pulled down your leg if you try to lean back into it.

I like my hunter safety system. It works for me. I like having the pockets on the outside. Granted my coat has them too but they just seem very accessible. Plus the deer drag strap that comes with it works pretty well.
