Safety Harness

Has anyone tried any of the new safety harnesses, that are of the vest type?If so how did you like it?I've always used the old style harness with just a waist strap,I need to go to a full harness and get rid of the old one.I've been favoring the Seat-O-The-Pants Supreme Safety Harness, because it can be used as a linesman's belt also, to free your hands for hanging loc-ons.For those that have the vest type how do you like them?

I haven't used one but I picked a couple different ones up at Cabela's and they were very heavy. Not sure of the brand names. My 2cents.

Hey PaHunter, I used this one http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/horizontal-pod.jhtml?id=0014279&navAction=push&navCount=2&indexId=cat20057&parentId=cat20057&parentType=index&rid=&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fcatalog%2Fpod-link.jhtml_A&_DAV=MainCatcat21424 last year and it worked out. Did not think that it was heavy at all. The only thing that I did not like about it and did not know this until I got it was that you are only suppose to use it once you are settled and ready to hunt. They did not promote using it while ascending and descending from the tree. But it was very easy and quick to put on and you did not have the slack from the straps hanging all over the place.

Seat of the Pants is the way to go. I like the idea of the vests but I like what I can do with my SOP. You can use it it so many ways, plus you can add and take of clothing while your still strapped in the tree. Best investment I have ever made.

Hey Dirtball LOL that sounds funny

I have been checking out that same vest, I noticed the rocky safety vest is insulated, and I did not want to be wearing 300 gram of insulation in September. Is that Cabelas vest warm or insulated? The vest looks like the way to go instead of wrestling with my current safety harness

Shedhuntermd, The one I have is uninsulated. I'm not sure even if they make one that is insulated. It was a good investment. Easy to use, you can put in under your bibs or wear it on the outside. You can take it off safely if you choose to while you are in your stand. For what ever reason that may be. The best part about it is not having to mess with all the straps you deal with, when using the others. Just my opinion though.
