Scent-Lok suits and New Gear

SD Buck,
I use the liner and like it. I don't rely on it however if an animal gets down wind it is a nice item to have on. Do I think it totally eliminates human odor? No. Do I think it masks it enough to not alarm deer in the immediate area? Yes. It is in no way a cure-all however, it can save the day. I have had numerous bucks down wind (see 1999 buck on my web site) and act like something is not quite right but can not pin point what or where it is. I have been looking to get the jacket and pants because my liner is getting old and pretty beat up. But I can tell you this, I have sweated in that liner more times that I can recall and it never picks up any of the odor... and for me that says a lot. My liner is a Sent Lok. They are worth the money.

SD Buck, I use Supprescent instead of the Scent Lok. I did originally buy the Scent Lok but at that time it was stiff as a board.I returned it for the Supprescent which was very soft and comfortable. Since then it seems that Scent Lok has really come around, making there product much more comfortable as well. I am VERY happy with my Supprescent outfit and will stay with the product in the future.

I was wandering how many of yo use Scent Lok suits and would recommend them? I was thinking about purchasing one this year. What would I all need to stay undetected? Is there any one out there that is trying some of the New gear? Thanks for your comments!

SD : I have been using one scent-lok suit or another for the past six years. I love my northern lite suit , but they have all gotten so good now it's really up to you to pick the one that fits you the best and your hunting style...
Used to have to make sure you got one that would let you move around, from what I can see they have progressed now so they seem to all be fine. How ever I currently have 3 and if it cold I ware two in my stand.
I shot a 180+ P&Y at 15yds with the wind blowing right to him , I could see him walking coming to me from over 100 yd's away. Most impressive part is I was between to hills and he was coming right up thru the vally toward me so I know the chances are real good that what ever scent was getting thru the suit was going down to him. Well because he is now stationed on my wall I don't have to tell ya....WEAR YOUR SCENT CONTROLING SUIT !!
While it is NOT a 100% it is a big help and the way I personally see it if it improved my chances
just 10% it would be well worth the $$$.
In 2000 season I shot another P&Y with the wind blowing it seemed in all directions , I thought for sure this time I'd be picked off but I shot the P&Y at 11 yds. I would suggest that if you put the $$$ into getting one of these suit that you use the head cover as well this in my opinion is important as you know biggest heat loss is head and that has to be scent controled.
To finish up before scent control suit's I be winded 4 to 8 times in 20 hunting days. These are time that I know I was winded. Now I get winded 1 or maybe 2 times a season. I see that as a 50% improvement ..$$$ is it worth it ??
Pick a suit you like don't rush they have some really nice things added into these now...my arm gaurd is built in and zips off so you can place it on left depending on rigth or left handed..it has large pockets and a hidden zip pocket for wallet... Two of my suits are water proof, but they don't feel it or sound it. great stuff.
A HuntN Friend MXZ... You will like it for stand hunting.

What these other guys said....

I use Scentblocker Ultralite jacket and Northernlite pants, only because they have a bib attachment and I don't like my butt hanging out.

I bought bigger than normal sizes to fit over all types of clothes depending on the weather. Bibs straps keep the pants up when I don't have alot of clothes on underneath in warmer weather.

Gotta keep them activated thou, they'll just be plain ol' hunting clothes if not fresh.

I went with ScentLoc head mask, cut a hole in it for my ears, but it is too hot to wear in 50+ degree weather. The "mask" and hood that comes with Scentblocker jackets is mickey mouse and doesn't allow you to turn your head.

Buy what you can afford, you can go broke trying to keep the latest and greatest equipment and clothing.

i wouldn't think of going out without it!it has become a part of my nunting strategy that is very important. you can't just put one on and expect to kill a monster but it you keep it activated and keep the rest of your gear clean it makes a world of difference. like they say, forget the wind just go hunting. it's really true. buy a good one like scent-lok or scent blocker and you'll never regret it.

How do you all keep your suits activated? Are you just using the dryer at home or going somewhere special? Do these new dryers get hot enough? Thanks for the help. Maggs.
