Scent of new leather?

Well, I got a good deal on a pair of ladies Rocky Ranger boots from Sportsman’s Guide. (Yay, new footwear!) There is a lot of leather on these boots and I was wondering what the best way to get rid of the new leather smell was. I plan to keep them in a Rubbermaid container with leaves and cedar branches like my other boots, but thought maybe it would be good to let them air out for a while first. Of course they will get sprayed down with the Ghost prior to each hunt, but I want to get as much of the new leather smell out beforehand. What works for you guys?

What you plan to do with them sounds like the best plan...air them out in the hot sun for a couple of weeks, rubbermaid cont. and ghost the heck out of them for each hunt. I have to do that to a new pair of Danners as soon as I get them.

I like to take mine out for a hike, take them through the mud, the creeks, the cow stuff, everything, then go through the creek and get all the excess mud off and they are ready to go in the storage container like you said.

Maybe you should market it Ghost...."Poo in a can" or how bout"Poo scent wafers" maybe even some "Liquid Poo Shampoo"??? Whadaya think?

Critr...I may need you to sample some of the Poo Shampoo first before it goes public.

Didn't you already try this?

All jokes aside... When I'm hunting around cattle farms I always find a fresh pie to mask my stand approach.

I keep all my boots in a Rubbermaid container also but I keep them misted with red fox urine. It works well but don't get caught wearing them into the house!

Hey Ghost, Thats funny because I do the same thing.Getting into you're stand is no problem besides slippery boots but when you climb down those tree steps are a little nasty.

Kat,

Find some tall grass on a wet, dewy morning and go for a hike. Then kick up some dust on a gravel road, then back in the grass.

I've also scrubbed them lightly with some Scentaway laundry soap and a brush. Usually do this with both leather and rubber boots and let them air dry outside before they go in the Rubbermaid.

Just kidding, haha. Thanks for all the great tips everyone.
The only problem is they're so new and purdy its going to be hard to cover them in mud.

You know why the scent of new leather is such a turn on for men???

Reminds them of a new truck!

If anyone starts marketing poo in a can I will take some. Guess I was in the midst of writing and couldn't find the right words so Cow stuff came out. And, I do want to hear about Poop in the hair, if there is a story lets hear it.
