The Hunt Never Ends....
Hey guys/gals, i've just recieved an essay in college comp, and I can pick what subject I want to write about. I am going to pick to write about "The Reasons to Bowhunt." I need as many ideas as possible so I can make this essay good and get out as many reasons as I can think of. If you would could you list as many reasons that you can think of, of why you bowhunt for whitetails.

Thanks,

It's the most humane & rewarding way to manage deer populations to balance the eco system & it's about as close as you can get to being a part of it without chasing them down on all fours & killing them with fangs. Oh yeah, they taste good too!

The feelings you get when sitting on the stand for countless hours. The highs of nature's beauty passing by unaware of your presence, the lows of missing the buck of your dreams, the rush of adrenalin as a mature buck approaches, introducing a newcomer to your passion of chasing whitetails, learning/seeing a new behavior in deer you have only heard about, Walking up on your archery trophy and touching the antlers for the first time (assuming you shot a buck), waiting for the sun to rise just so you can view nature for the day, watching the sun go down and seeing the woods come alive with activity.....the list can go on and on for me. I enjoy every aspect of the hunt from scouting the area to picking the stand sites and waiting for the moment of opportunity on the most majestic of God's creations.

You will get quite a few opinions on why folks deer hunt here...but I bet you write a better paper if you sit back and think why YOU chase whitetails. The paper will write itself in a couple of hours or less based on your passion for the hunt. Good Luck

Great reply shredder, and good advise too.

If you mean the reasons to bowhunt instead of gun hunting, bowhunting is much more rewarding and challenging than gun hunting because you have to work harder due to the shorter range of a bow vs. firearm. You have to learn a lot about deer and their behavior in order to get close enough. You also have to learn about the terrain you are hunting in. This education ultimately brings one closer to the land and nature. You also have a lot more time to bowhunt because the bow season is much longer.

Anything that is writen about hunting in skool should always get an A!!

The felling after the u shot a deer: u r like excited, pumped, ect. The felling that u didnt something that u luv to do and nowing that u did it rite is the best thing in the world!! That what
I would rite about. GOOD LUCK

I bowhunt for all the reasons stated above, but for me it's the escape from the hectic pace of life. When else can you sit in a tree, relax and forget about the stresses of work and everyday life and just concentrate on nature. To me that's the ultimate. To sit and observe nature and to watch it's slow pace makes me realize that we rush too much. How often do we sit there with game just out of reach of our bows only to wait and watch, sometimes hours for them to come into range.

Now don't get me wrong, the chase also drives me out of bed on those crappy mornings with the wind howling or the snow blowing with bitter windchills, but I'll trade those bad conditions any time for a chest that feels like my heart is about to come out of it because that deer or turkey has just somehow appeared from nowhere!

Good Luck on you essay and let us know how you do - maybe even post a copy of it on here for us to read. What better audience could you have

I'd make sure your professor isn't an antihunter. I have heard stories from friends, that have written essays on hunting related topics, and the result was not good, grade wise and relationship wise with the professor. You don't want to be disriminated against right off the bat as they read your paper. Then again I'm sure you have already discussed the topic with the prof. so goodluck, and you know the reasons why you bowhunt

LIV4RUT, my professor is against hunting. I already know that for the simple reason that I just missed a week of school to go on a turkey hunting trip. Her words to me about this were, "that is the worst reason that I have ever heard of to miss school." WOW! I got pretty pissed off about this comment, and I asked her why that was such a bad reason if it's what I enjoy doing. I asked her why going hunting was any different then kids missing school to go on a cruise or go to Cancun and get drunk off their @$$! She said hunting was pointless because we can go buy a turkey from a grocery store....and blah blah blah. Well now i'm going to write an essay on why I bowhunt. Maybe this will help her understand the reason I am in the woods any chance I get!
