I see a lot of post on here with pictures of bucks and crazy scores. Not saying people don't know how to score BUT.... I guess everyone has a big fish story!!!

If you live in central Iowa and would like to learn how to score a deer the right way using the pope and young system you should make time to come to this seminar tomorrow night. There will be an official P&Y scorer there as well!

Your right, guys typically over score their deer. I know I did from measuring too far down into the main beam. It was adding 5+ inches to my scores. A good buddy is a scorer for HRB and got me squared away a few years back. Those 1/8ths add up in a hurry!
 
A thing that I like that might help others measure tine length is to get a small rubber band and slide it all the way down the tine and it puts a line right along where you should measure from without marking up your antler
