Just wanted to post some informationa about a South Dakota meriam hunt that me my brother and dad went on. I haven't been on here since deer season, busy with school, but wanted to let everyone know that Meriam turkey hunting is a blast. We took 6 birds in 2 days, 5 on Sunday and one on Saturday. In all we took 5 Meriams and one Meriam/Eastern Hybrid. The birds are very responsive to calls and especially to decoys. All and all it was a great hunt and was especially a great time to spend with the family.

Man Jarin you guys really dropped the hammer on those turkeys. Congrats on your multiple harvests.

Would love to give it a try some time. Where abouts did you guys go, if you don't mind my asking?
 
We hunted the Rosebud Sioux Reservation. No harm done in asking since they have 500,000 acres you can hunt (lol). You have to get a guide to hunt on the reservation, basically just to allow you access to the land. The hunts are all you and your buddies, the guides will go out and roost some birds and have 5 or 6 spots picked out where they see birds daily, so if one spot isn't working they will take you to another. However the calling, shooting, carrying and cleaning is all up to you. If anyone is interested give me an email and I can give you more info.
