What is the usual opening day? Is it always the Monday after the second full weekend?

Reason I'm asking is my friend is say when they extended youth it pushed the other season back. He scheduled his vacation thinking he knew the dates cause it always opens the same every year. Now he is saying that them lengthening youth pushed them all back and is upset about it.

Not something I keep track of. I always check the dates.

He is right .

They pushed it back a week and 4th season is open a week later.

Youth ends the weekend that second season usually started.

Hope that makes sense.
 
I noticed it started a week earlier also- or so it seemed compared to years past when I assumed it woud start on the 9th, using this year as an example.
 
I don't understand why they lengthened youth season and pushed everything back rather than just letting them use their tag for all seasons.. at the rate of green-up right now, won't even be able to hunt for turkeys in the woods
 
First season usually opens on the THE FIRST MONDAY AFTER APRIL 10 , It's been that way for quite some time .. Looks to me that the Youth season didn't effect opener as much as the calender. Best of luck to all. Go QUAKER BOY.

That's the info I was looking for. Its just starting later because of the fall of the days on the calendar not the youth season extension. Makes since now.

All I know is I am going crazy. I bet I saw 40 birds strutting since last monday. crazy!! This weather has them going wild. They haven't broken up out of the big groups though it seems so that is good.

That brings up a good question then.

In the future will the youth season stay at two weekends or vary depending on the calendar on where it falls?

I hope they keep two weekends for the youth.

I hope they keep it at 2 as well, I just would prefer it if they keep the normal season dates the same and just have the youth season be the 2 weekends before the usual Monday date of the first season opener.

With this warm weather and all of this rain we're supposed to get this week the woods will be a jungle by the time 1st season rolls around. I'm going to stock up on tick repellant.

Couldn't agree more.

I remember last year I never even mowed my lawn until
after turkey season was over.

This year will be the first time ever that I will probably be mowing my yard before youth season even starts.
 
I already need to knock the high spots down.

Buddy is still not buying that it wasn't youth season that why first season is starting late.
