Season's over for me, can't wait until next year.

I finally filled my antlerless tag on Saturday. I was walking down a cutline and saw a pile of sign leading to a cutover. I decided to have a closer look so I mosied over. A doe stood up about 30 yards away, I dropped to one knee, put the Xhairs on here neck and f dropped her like a sack of potatoes. When she hit the ground a decent 5x5 stood up from his bed beside her and slowly left the side of his dead girlfriend. My brother passed on him at about 40 yards as he would rather shoot a 2nd doe than a smaller buck. He had filled his doe tag about 20 minutes prior to me.
I hadn't been out a whole heck of alot since Oct. b/c of being without a buck tag. I was howver out a fair bit the past week and it was awesome. The big boys were starting to show now that most does are bred. A 188 inch buck was shot a mile and a half from my house last Monday. I saw 2 160-170 5x5's on Friday evening and 2 absolute beasts on Saturday, both would have put my buck to shame. I can only hope they surivive the final week up here. Next year I'll be planningon hunting the lattter part of the rut hard b/c the brutes were out this year. Here's one of the bruisers I saw, he's sustancially larger tha he was whn he dropped this shed!

I wouldn't even want to specualte how big he is now but I hope he stays the heck away from where he was Saturday afternoon for the rest of this week. I'd be sick if someone driving down the road shot him!

Hey Sasky thats a nice find you have there, not a bad antler either!

Congrats on the doe harvest.

Which one of those is heavier? I like the way your kid is stareing at it, thinking "man I can't wait till I'm big enough to go hunting with dad!"
