What upsets me about that second list is seeing Sam Brownback's name. I'd expect this sort of thing from the others, but not him, ridiculous what Whitehouse ambition will do to a man or woman.

What's really stupid about all the people opposing this is that it doesn't force anyone to do anything, it only recognizes that English is the official language of the US. Most countries have an official language but we do not.

I am not a bigot and I am not a big believer that everyone should have to speak english all the time. After all, if you have ever tried to learn a foreign language, you will understand that it is not something you can do overnight. It is hard, but the things that made the USA the greatest nation on earth was the willingness of the immigrants to become a part of the culture, not to force their culture on the americans. It is time we had an official language and begin the process of helping the people learn it who do not know it.

That sickens me as well, but doesn't surprise me a bit. I lost ALL respect for Brownback when he co-sponsored an amnesty bill with Teddy Kennedy last year.
