Seth's First Turkey!

Crimson Arrows

Well-Known Member
Well, one of my best friends and his son , Seth, set out again this year to try and harvest Seth's first turkey. Seth hadn't been able to connect the past couple years but we all had a good feeling this year was going to break the ice.

His father and him set up in the double bull blind long before daylight on Saturday morning. As daylight broke, only a couple gobblers were heard, and not really close enough to get either of them very excited. Seths father told him to keep watching the field and be alert. Before to long, a lone gobbler entered a field, on the other side of the fence, a LONG way off.

His dad told him that he might not come, with the distance and fence, but after seeing pretty boy..here he came!! He broke all the rules, bobbing and looking for a way through the fence. He finally ran in, stopped, ran again, stopped and then all the way in. Now is where it gets relly good!

Seth shoots with his 20 gauge but misses....and the turkey justs runs off a little bit! So, he shoots again, and misses....and this time..the turkey gobbles!!!!! So, he has one shell left and the turkey is at 30+ yards. This time...he drops him with a modified choke 20 gauge!!! His Dad had forgotten to switch chokes but it didn't matter on this day.

It is Seth's first turkey and I couldn't be more proud of him! After the hunt he said, "I didn't think it would be as exciting as deer hunting but IT IS!!!!" He has alot of short April nights ahead of him. I'll try and post pics soon.

Way to go Seth!
