Elkhunter just forwarded an overview of three pieces of proposed deer legislation. This looks off to me and I am a retired veteran. Unless I am reading this wrong it would allow every member of the armed services free access to hunt Iowa deer seasons as long as they serve whether they are station in Iowa or any place else in the world. I believe there should be some hunting and fishing privileges extend to those serving in an Active Duty Status and stationed in Iowa, also those Iowa residence that are serving on Active Duty status elsewhere in the world that may be home on leave. To include all nonresident soldier/airmen/sailor/marines/coastguardsman in this legislation is much more than other states offer. If stationed in Iowa was added to this proposal I would find it acceptable. What do you all think? As written every member of the armed services is invited and they don’t even have to be invited by a resident land owner. I am not sure of the number but it will be way north of 500,000.
