Shade tolerant switch?

So I am looking at planting some switch in between 2 pieces of woods, mainly with Ash trees coming down all over, I am hoping I can provide a bit more cover until the woods can get thickened back up a bit. Its about 50 yards wide is all, that was just grass previously (nothing major). Ash trees will open the area up more to provide more light, but not sure if there is a good switch that anyone recommends to do that? I am trying to do a whole revamp of my property and make sanctuary areas, so this is step one in my master plan after talking with the local forester. Didnt know if there was a specific variety anyone recommends, thanks

All varieties need 6+ hours of sun to really thrive. 50 yards wide is enough to provide close to that for a portion of the planting.

If they don't get the sun they need, they will not thrive. And will not get close to the typical height they would in full sun.
